Man, 17MPG does suck! My 82 245 has never gotten below 19 and as high as 24 on the highway, with 235K on the clock too! I also got my car for a grand, put less than a grand in parts into it, but would take it anywhere. As a matter of fact, we're about to take a 2500 mile round trip and I'm not worried about the car at all! Thanks for sharing - Bob
