rear fog lights

I had a hunch about the brake light simulation theory. And after I posted the question I drove to work in the fog and saw a brand new Audi A4 with a single rear fog light. I'll have to see if mine is pre-wired like some of the others, because I'd like to give some relief to my sense of symmetry.
