rear fog lights

My '92 245 is wired for both sides up to a point. Each side has a separate wire going all the way to the main wiring harness connector up under the dashboard in the upper left hand corner, that's where the right side wire ends.

I simply tapped into the harness at that point and continued the right side wire onto where the left side wire went. Then at the rear of the car I unplugged the wires for the fog lights and swapped them with the brake lights.

This way the brake lights are on the top segment where they were in my '84 245 and where Volvo originally designed for them to be. Otherwise those top segments went unused 99.99999% of the time, what a waist, after all they are more visible up there than sharing the parking light segment at the bottom. And now when I turn on my lights and then my fogs they are in the same position as the parking lights and are therefore in my opinion much less likely to be confused with brake lights. Besides wouldn't a fog light work better in a lower position, during fog, than a higher one?

I can't imagine why Volvo didn't just do what I did in the first place.
