At my wit's end with wet carpets in my 740!!!

Be sure to check the HVAC intake under the cowl, there is a plastic "funnel" that may need to be resealed. The volume of water from a hose may not be sufficient to create a leak here until airflow from a moving vehicle is added into the equation. I had the same interior leakage problem and did notice dampness around my blower motor.
BTW if you're going to pressurize the interior the HVAC intake would need to be sealed off.
