Strange Dash Switch

The only OEM purple switch I know is a very rare item, but I can't see why it would be in your car.

It is the "Rear Fog" switch as an accessory from the old-style (75-80) dash.

Since you have the late dash with the rear fog switch up by the headlight switch, I can't imagine what it's doing there, unless some PO used it for an accessory that isn't there.

Does switching it do anything?
