Randy;

Since that is a crimped connector and therefore does NOT have a gas-tight connection from the get-go, that WOULD HAVE been the perfect place to use anti-corrosive paste which would have prevented the hidden corrosion!

Remember, if you can't solder, and you want longevity, use anti-corrosive paste (not to be confused with dielectric grease)!
