Some thoughts from me to you: The 700 is a more "refined" vehicle in trim and in feel. The 240 has a flexible body and stiff suspension whereas the 700 has a stiff body and a mushier suspension..but if you put some ipd sways on the 700 you have a GREAT compromise. 700 interior plastic is very fragile. I don't know why the engines would be ANY different? 700s are suseptible to some electrical gremlins (weird starting, gauges, etc.) I have an 88 na 745 that I would drive anywhere and it is FUN to drive esp. with the M547. Much smooter overall than any 240 I have ever owned.....good luck.
