Computer Picture question

OK:

300 x 300 RGB saved as jpg with a LOT of compression (5/12) = 100K.

Same image converted to Indexed Color (256), no dithering, then saved as gif = 40K.

But that makes for a pretty lousy looking image in order to get it in under the limit. The jpg look "OK". Plus we should be able to go up to ~ 500 x 500. I think he should up the limit to at least 100K. It wouldn't be a that big of deal.
