Inspect a B20 block 140-160

Is it possible for me to test a block for coolant leaks or cracks? I would like to test a B20 that is sitting in a donor car (before I agree to take the car). What are some other concerns for this effort? I am hoping to find a candidate worthy of rebuilding.
