Mr. Shifty McShift Shift 120-130 1966

Greetings--

With the mention of a faulty e-brake causing the car to roll into a tree (was it in gear?) and you put it in 3rd to SAVE gas at 30 MPH (I hit FOURTH gear at around 25-30 MPH), etc., I respectfully wonder if this is your first car with a manual transmission?

Sure, overdrive is great fun, but I constantly drive my '67 122s 4-speed for hours at a time on the freeway averaging 75 MPH. If your gearbox is low on oil your transmission will be noisy. I assume you checked that-- I just inherited a 122 wagon which had NO gearbox oil, and as such, no gears. Will your car go 95 MPH on the freeway like a stock 122s should?

Yes! Get a stereo. A BIG one. After I get out of a loud rock concert and drive my car I'm always amazed at how smooth and quiet it is... In fact my ears are destroyed. Ignorance is bliss!

Regards,

s
