It only costs you time and a new cam cover gasket (I prefer to use blue loctite and an inch-lb torque wrench, torque to what, 120in-lbs?). Measure the clearances cold and write them down. Then make the decision on whether to do the valve adjustment.
FWIW, my B230FT engines have gone from 50-250K miles on one and 50-125K miles on the other without valve adjustment...I took them in at 100K and the tech said the clearances were within specifications (amsoil synthetic). The cam/shims haven't worn and the seats apparently aren't pounding in, so what's to wear and change the lash?
