What breaks? 3rd gear seems to be a weak link, and some of them just pop while accelerating hard in 3rd. Driving style might have something to do with it, as well as tires, LSD/open diff, and the clutch. The steel case M46 won't help if you're breaking gears. If it grinds and/or pops out of gear, I'm guessing you have an old trans that's already worn and probably never had the fluid changed. A fresh rebuild would help, but it will probably break again. Options include Quaife gears for the M46, Toyota swap, Getrag swap, M90, or BW T5 (custom adapter needed).
