What about Audi? 700

I have an 88 745 GLE, which I like and will keep, but I'm also looking for a later diesel estate (wagon) due to UK petrol (gas) prices. Older Volvo diesels are a bit "agricultural" (sorry, George) and you don't get refinements such as air-con etc. So I'm considering either V70 diesel (rare),Audi A6 2.5 tdi or possibly MB E class diesel at the right price. I understand the liking for older Volvos but eventually you have to move on. The Audi A6 uses an updated diesel from around 97 onwards whereas Volvo started using the older Audi 2.5 diesel in the V70 (till recently). So.........what do you all think of Audis?
