The offset is an issue, though. Most FWD cars have the wheels set way inboard (positive offset), and that's not good for old Volvos even if clearance is not a problem. Ideally, although it's fairly forgiving, you want to keep the centerline of the wheels where the centerline of the stock wheels was. The reason is that the inner wheel in a corner turns more sharply than the outer -- how much more is built into the car and is not adjustable. Changing the centerline of the wheels messes with that.
