My Earl Scheib Experience ... 700 1987

Yeah, the hood should be better than that. The clear coat's orange peeling should be able to be cut down a little bit. The paint will not level itself; if anything it gets worse. It might be that they use a quick-dry clearcoat. Those are great when you put them on right, and horrible when you don't.

I'd see if you can get the hood repainted. The rest of it... for $350 that's about right. Not saying you might not get more, but that would be pretty average. The usual Maaco/Scheib paintjob might have a little bit of sag or run, or a little orange peeling. But it's the cost that people are shopping for. Quite a bit cheaper than a $2000 paint job.

Painting is kind of an art form. Believe me.
