My Earl Scheib Experience ... 700 1987

I think i would settle for the orange peel - you really cant expect much for $350....but the hood should be factory fresh if they bare metaled it...and if they didnt then they ripped you off as they cahrged you for doing that!

to put it into perspective....I painted my motor bike not that long ago...tank, side panels, rear under seat panel & front guard...

Now the prep & intercoat rubbibg down probably ran at about 30 hours - admittedly I had problems with sillicone contamination and paint reactions including orange peel!, the painting itself probably 2-3 hours total - the compounding & polishing probably another 5 hours all told, so about 40 hours total...result is (and i say this modestly as lots of people have told me and asked me if i would do theres...) at least as good as factory, probably better...

now if you turn that into money at say $30/hour (cheap!) that would be a $1200 paint job so you wernt ecxactly stiffed to paint a brick....except on the hood....

next time buy a compressor and LOTS of wet and dry and teach yourself to paint!
