Looking to add a choke to a Penta engine

A friend has a 1986 house boat with Volvo Penta engine in it. The unit has no choke on the single carb presumably because one doesn't use a houseboat when the weather is cold (wrong!). The friend would like to add a choke to ease starting on cold mornings. I don't see why he cannot just drop in a carb from a B21A or whatever. Any thoughts?
