if you put a fuse before the relay, you should completely ignore the fuse box.

Come straight off the alternator, for optimum voltage to the lights.

alternator -> fuse -> relay -> lights

240's are chock full of useful relays. If you have access to a parts 240, use an '83-4 fuel pump relay. Or use any year power locking relay.
