Dumb Electrical/Charging System Question 700

Hi:

Like 87V780 said, the brushes on the internal regulator do wear down after time causing a high resistance condition in the field circuit. If you have access to a Multimeter, measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. Do it when you are having your problem. Make sure the meter is in the Volts DC range and set at 0-20 VDC or similar. Your reading shold be 13.8 to 14.6. Any less and you have a problem.

I suspect your voltage regulator, so start here.
