How do I turn off the check engine light? 700 1991

Is it the check enging light or the service light?

If it is the service light this one comes on every x kilometers to remind you to change the oil. It comes on for the first 2 minutes of driving and then goes off. It will keep coming on when you start the car until you reset it on the back of the instrument panel. There is a push knob on the back of the instrument panel near the odometer used to reset it. It needs to be pressed all the way in...a little resistance is normal.
