Problem starting 700 1987

I think i found the problem. I have a 1987 740 with 230F engine. It still will not start. I took the upper timing belt cover off and noticed the crank teeth were not engaging the belt. The belt is missing about 4 inches of teeth.
Should i attempt to replace the belt myself or is this a costly repair to have done?? The crank i probobly out of place now also. How do i fix this?? Are there timing dots to line up??
