I'd say your life and limbs are worth far more than the cost of proper car stands. I have 3 ton rated stands, $20.00 US a pair, on sale.
This is not an area you want to cut corners on. Locally, a car fell on a guy....his kid found him....not worth it, dude.

Figure a way to get the extra bucks.....
