Well you've found the Starter Thing...
This an electric motor that starts the car,
It is mounted on the driver's (in the US) or left hand side of the car.
Under the intake manifold as described
as a mater of nomenclature the Left is as if sitting in the vehicle
But anyway that's the starter...

Check the blade fuse located near the battery
after moving the yellow wire.
