In my also dim memory I recall a 544 with that very motor while cruzing 1st in San Jose CA. I was driving my first and only new car...a 63 427 Ford Fairlane. Couldn't believe how fast the thing could get off the light.We both pulled over on 2st chatted had a look and that was it. I remember something about a bellhousing adapter????
