diagnostic unit 1997

The ECU is an Jetronic LH2.4.2 which has a connection on pin 12 for diagnostic communcation.
However this is terminated in a connector which is used by volvo to plug in an adapter so their diagnostic computer( that uses EOBD or ODB2 ),can communicate.
I guess this adapter i performing some kind of translation af the slow flash codes coming from the "old" Jetronic ECU.
I wouldn't be surprised if the diagnosrtic unit only contains a switch (pushbutton) for connection to ground and the LED for displaying the code.
I just dont want to rush and ground this pin 12 on the ECU, in case some diode or resistor arrangement is needed.
I know that on models up til 1995 the pin 12 on the ECU is connected to the Diagnostic Unit.

I dont have an actual problem to solve, the car runs fine, but I just would like to have the possibilty to read out codes if they appear.

By the way this 945 has a manual 5-shift transmission model M90, (no ECU).
The engine is a Low Pressure Turbo B230FK, which I think also is solely for Europe.
