Got any (pardon the expression) asbestos or cemesto boards? If you put one of
those between where you are welding and the side of the tank you should be OK
for arc welding. DON'T do this if you have any fuel leaks!! The asbestos
siding they used to put on houses work pretty well for this but thicker is
better.
