Horn Fix 120-130

Tommy

the wire inside the steering collum may be dammaged. to check it and your horn out simply find the wire exiting from your steering box that goes to the horn. when you have found this wire, ground (using a jumper wire) from the terminal that it is connected to, to a known good ground(please use ear protection before doing so). If the horn sounds you have eliminated it as a source, if not make sure that the horn has power by checking the opposite connection for power. If the horn sounded than the wire inside the steering box/column may be the culprit, the horn switch functions as a ground(when You press on the horn you are simply grounding the wire ot the horn, completeing it's circuit. If you are so inclined check the continuety of the wire from the switch to the horn. If it is the cause replace and enjoy warning other drivers of there false manouvers on the road. While you are in the area check the rubber connector in the steering column, it's easy to overlook in routine maintenance and is very easy to replace and not expensive(I paid $10.00 Canadian, I used one from a VW beetle(old)) and are readily available (also if you read the air-coled VW mags you can find coloured neoprene ones. It is easier to replace the wire if it is removed anyways.
