B20E with a noise 140-160 1971

If you listen to the timing gear cover with a stethoscope or long screwdriver, you may be able to narrow-in on the noise.

It could also be the viscose (sp?) fan clutch, but I kind of doubt it from your description. You might check it for fore/aft and up/down play.
