Fuel Problems 200 1984

There is a short section of fuel hose that connects the intank pump to the pickup tube. The symptoms you describe indicate that hose has failed, allowing the pumps to draw air rather than fuel.

Chances are if the pump hasn't been changed in a while it is not functioning anyway. Best to change both out while they are in there as well as the fuel sock on the end of the pickup.

It is suggested that the intank pump be replaced with the more robust 740 intank pump which requires a little rigging to secure it properly in the correct position.
