I have done it and it was not too hard. The hard part is opening hte tank. Mine was fairly rusty and needed a lot of PB Blaster to eat away the rust. Get yourself either the tool form IPD to open the tank or get a brass punch to hammer away with in order to turn it so not use a screwdriver or anything steel as it can cause sparks.
Also do yourself a huge favor and buy yourself a respirator that can filter out gas fumes and such. Such a thing will run you about 30 bucks but it is handy any time you are working o the fuel system or stuff bad for your brain.
