Yes, grind there a bit.

Do not grind into the valve guide... well, more specifically, do not end up with the tip of the guide at any angle at all, or thin on one side. Sounds like you know enough not to do this.

Remove the inner sharp edges on each side of the plug- the one(s) which are pretty much cut off on the cropped and marked picture (in the very bottom left)
