am i looking for trouble? 120-130

Chas, dont listen to these guys, I think it is a great idea. Too many people in the Volvo world are either scared of lowering or think it is stupid. The fact of the matter is that people drop cars ALL the time. To the ground. Sure, you scrape, sure, it can cause problems, but if you keep it in mind and drive carefully you will be fine. I think it is a shame Volvo people arent more open to wild stuff being done to these old cars. Perhaps then there would be more interesting suspension systems, maybe repro and modified parts, and... performance parts!? They are excellent candidates. Lowered cars look COOL and aggressive. That hot rod rake helps a lot too.

If you were going to go really all out with that thing, my personal opinion is to put air suspension on it. That way you can set the ride height at that rake, and when you drop it for parking/show, it will be REALLY low. Additionally, air gives a far superior ride to coiled steel and it is ADJUSTABLE. Thats right, when you see a speed bump, just hit the switch to inflate your bags and boom, you are back up at stock 122 height. It is a great system. I built this system for my 122 wagon and it looks sweet. I will be at the IPD garage sale in the main lot if you are coming there. Otherwise, if you are interested in air suspension, just give me a holler. I have all them mounts fabbed and in place, and I could easily build a set and send them off to you.

Good luck,
Josh
