No horn operation 444-544 1965

Tom;

The wire coming out of the steering box went into the harness and finally to the horns. It was routed through the hollow shaft all the way to the switch in the st wheel.

The horns are likely polarity sensitive, so if there are two wire coming from them, it means they have no internal connection to the chassis, only one polarity combination will work at all. If they are original, decades of weather attack has probably taken its toll and they may be frozen solid regardless of the polarity!...

First, double check if your horns work at all with direct battery power. Replace as necessary, then route a wire back up through the steering box to the horn switch (this may be a bit easier starting from the st box at the bottom, coming up!...use 600V reated wire!). Next, its recommended to install a relay, and wire up per typical relay circuit.

Cheers
