Ignition points / ignition problems 140-160 1974

Make sure when you installed your points in the distributor that neither the 12V hot lead nor the condenser lead are in contact with a ground. They need to contact the spring on the movable point, but be insulated from the ground. Sometimes it is easy to slip the connectors onto the wrong side of the clamping bolt.
