I assume you took the cover off of the crank area. Did the cable fall off the track? If one side "flips" up before the other, the cable probably slipped or a piece of hardware broke. Be careful, it is all cast metal and will not bend! On mine it was a pin that lost it's "c" clamp. Both pieces are still up there somewhere.
