Mine isn't on SUs, but the principle is the same.

The longer the box, the better.

Don't be stupid and hook the box to the carbs and then put a lid on it like I did. Hook the lid to the carbs and attach the box to that. This makes access a whole lot easier.

Use a smooth tube to feed it through, not a corrugated thing. Mine is nothing but 3" PVC pipe from Home Depot.
