Engine parts finished. 140-160 1974

Did you determine why the front main bearing was destroyed?

Make certain you have cleaned the block AGAIN with detergent and gallery brushes. Pull the gallery plugs and hog it out in there as well. It is common for hot-tanked blocks to still have kaka in little hidey holes waiting to come out and destroy a bearing. Ditto for the crank.

No sense not using silicone seals if you can.

If pump is scored at all I'd replace it.

Wrist pins should be checked for fit in the rods. If all is good, then there is no point in replacing them. They are supposed to be a sliding fit when lightly oiled.

Make certain your oil squirter for the cam gear is cleaned out! Also the drain hole in the cam at the rear.

Clean, chase, and re-clean all threaded holes to ensure proper torque values.

You may need to get a longer bolt for the rocker assembly where the oil feed hole is.

Did I mention to re-clean the block. I's also do the same for the head.

Balancing is money well spent.

Mike!
