Engine parts finished. 140-160 1974

Sounds reasonable to me. I assume the valve job included hardening the exhaust seats. Neoprene seals last longer, no doubt, and I have them on both ends of one of my engines, and only on the rear on the other. Some "experts" opine, that since they are easy to change on the front and they are less likely to gall the front of the crank, one is better off using the felt seal there. If your engine already came with a neoprene front seal, there is nothing to decide. I have a bunch of oil pumps lying around that are not enough off-spec to throw away, but that I haven't wanted to put into a fresh engine because it is a false economy to save the price of a new pump if, later on, you have to tear down the engine to replace a failed pump, not to mention the damage a failed pump can do.
