Shatz,

I was thinking there was no difference from a 96 960 and a 97 V90...regarding a drain plug, which my 96 has.

My aversion to synthetics is based an anectdotal experienece and I agree that synthetics outperform non-synth...if you don't leak you are better off, I agree.

No service interval per the manufacturer holds no weight with me personally.
I cannot imagine that a tranny isn't much better off with healthy fluid.
If I had synth in the tranny I might change out if it started looking nasty...no experience there.
