83 245 missing under load 200

i have also heard that chrysler is not very good. I can live with slow, however this is ridiculous. I had a local volvo shop replace something under the cap that was supposed to help with spark. not the rotor or cap, some foil-thing. Sorry for the low tech talk, I am usually better than this however i don't remember the name of the part. Is it possible to switch to the other style of ignition system. I remeber reading a post about swapping in a different stock distributor.
