Today Sunday the 19 dec I changed both sides inner and outer tie rods..boots also. 91 ,740 with 130000 miles. The drivers side inner was bad so I thought it best to do both. Parts were obtained form FCGroton. After readig extensively about the procedure the one difference was how the inners were "secured". There wasnt any washer with a tab to undo...instead the geared shaft ( drivers side) and the passenger side rack shaft ( smooth and tubular)...both side allowing the new inners to be screwed in...had a recess . The ball part of the inner rod
was punched to create a deformity which fits into the recess and to undo this I drilled it out as the material was soft enough. During installation of the new one I applied locktite to the threads and punched the new one to create a "tab"..even though I could not get it close to the original. hopefully this should suffice. Tools needed were a plumbers wrench to remove the inners and a tie rod removal tool. The boots were secured with plastic tie wraps...good luck
