I have the above car with a B230K engine and the engine has started to make a noise like a ticking noise that does it when idling warm or cold but goes away when driving. It is like two revolving metal parts hitting each other and gives the same rhythmic noise every time. It is due for an oil and filter change and I use castrol GTX magnateck 10w40 which is semi synthetic. I do all City driving mostly, generally short journeys of a few miles. Is this oil ok for this? What could the noise be.It also has made a whooshing noise under acceleration, what could this be it has always done this.
The oil has about 5,000 miles on it and the car engine has done 150,000miles and uses no oil/water.
