What you have is the classic M410 tranny in its normal form, made to bolt up
to a B30 engine. Not sure why you wanted this tranny for the 142.
An M41 is the tranny you want. There were some M410 trannies made for the
1800 for maybe one or two years that had the special smaller bellhousing
that would bolt up to the B20 but they are RARE and not particularly
desirable for the B20. In fact I wish I could find an easy way to use an
M41 on my 164, but I would have to have a custom hybrid bellhousing made
to do that, since the B30s bellhousing bolts up to a flange about an inch
bigger than the B20. The M410 has lube/bearing issues on the layshaft and
will become noisy in about 100,000 miles. It will continue to work OK for
a LONG time but the noise is objectionable. The M41 does not have this problem,
and is plenty sturdy for about any B20.
