Isn't it though! (A pain in the.... that is.)
On my '96 with the improved wiring the "harness protector" hides the manifold's lower attaching nut at the motor mount. I took the shoulder bolts off it so it could be moved aside so I could see the manifold's nut. There is a ground wire under one of those bolts which I dispared of ever getting back on so I elected to replace the bolt with a new set-up. At the back I pre-attached the ground from the top useing a long bolt down through the mount such that I would be able to use a nut on the bottom to re-attach the harness protector.
I also had to take the preheater pipe out to get a wrench onto the lower nut. Note that it is slotted so you can put the lower nut on the mount before you put the manifold back in place. (Also only needed to loosen it to take the manifold out.)
How did your's go?
I also took the manifold all the way out in order to get the bracket off the back of the starter so the crank locking tool could be installed when timing the cams.
