You must not get into the mountains very often if that was your first taste of the Bosh anti-locks. I live in Windsor,ON and have heard the sound of the anti-locks many times (slush/snow) on my 88 740T. The Bosh/Volvo brakes are very strong with no problems with mine to date, although I also own a 96 855T and had to replace the anti-lock ECU on that last year ($750) I am not sure if it was Bosch? I'm sure that the 88 740 has a simpler system (less electronics) than the 800 series but it sure seams to work just as well.
