My info is a little dated and geographically detached, but in a somewhat rural area of CA in 2001 I got the windshield in the 81 replaced, right in my driveway, by regional glass shop chain that offered mobile service. Cost was $145, glass is optically decent, workmanship OK, except for some globs of sealant around the interior perimeter. I used a razor-scraper and acetone to remove this. Two years later the same chain, but in a larger town, did the 'shield in the 940. $199, and a cleaner installation. I requested PPG glass, not their cheapest deal.
They also instructed that in the first 24hrs, not to hit any speed bumps or driveway dips at anything faster than a crawl and not to slam doors shut unless a window was open. Guess that was to let sealant cure before putting any stress on the glass.
I would say that this is not a job for the DIY'er.
