Yes, but after years and years of twisting distributors to set engine timing it just seems wrong when you have a light on the dampner and you twist the distributor and nothing happens. On a similar note though, I have heard it put forth that if you swap two of the leads in the connector for the crank sensor that it is possible to advance the timing about 4 degrees. The theory is that it causes the digital square wave signal that is your engine speed signal to start reading at the top of the signal instead of the bottom, or vice versa. Something one of the Volvo school instructors commented on way back in B234 (16 valve) class. He mentioned he talked to someone that had done it. Why is beyond me though.
