You could tap off the radio power wire. Just be careful about the "tap" - I hate those "Scotch-Lok" connectors that cut through the insulation and cut some of the conductors in the process. That can seriously impair the wire's ability to carry current. I would recommend you get the 12V source straight from Fuse No.1 as said, or...
An alternative is the hot lead to the cigar lighter, which comes from (wait for it....) Fuse No. 1. Nice thing there is that there's a ground right beside it. They're both light gauge black wires so don't confuse them - the ground is obviously the one going to the outer part of the metal case.
In behind the central console is a maze of wires; the smallish Brown ones are for lighting, and are dimmed by the rheostat. Splice into one of them. If the light on your gauge has a separate ground, just jumper it to the gauge ground.
BTW, when you splice in to the console Brown lighting wires you WILL accidentally pull one or more of the tiny bulbs out of its socket so check them all before you fasten the console back in place.
