If you do have a loose harmonic balancer, you can't ignore it, even if you do somehow get the electrical running OK.

I had a loose H.B. that I left unfixed due to lack of funds. It eventually gradually slid rearwards into the timing belt cover, which it destroyed, leaving chewed up plastic in the timing belt drive area. It was a real mess, and expensive for my very good shop to fix.
