Could also be amm. Disconnect amm (engine off) and start the engine. This puts system ecu in limp home mode. Engine should run, but crappily. If it seems to run similar to your current situation, it's likely you have a bad air mass meter. Replace the AMM with a known good one (try swapping with a friend who has a running B230!) and see if it cures the problem.
